Re: ADVICE NO. 2
Date: 3pm MONDAY 8 APRIL 2024

The Local Disaster Management Group remains at Alert status and is continuing to monitor the flood warnings across the Shire.

MUNGINDI
Barwon River at Mungindi was at 3.17m and steady at 11.30am today (8/4/2024). BOM has indicated the Weir River at Talwood peaked at 3.85 metres (moderate flood) around 06:00 pm Sunday 07 April, and is currently at 3.83 metres at 09:00 am Monday 08 April and falling slowly. The Weir River at Talwood is likely to remain above the moderate flood level (3.50 m) during Monday into Tuesday. Floodwaters from the lower Weir River will approach Mungindi on the Barwon River over the coming days. LDMG will continue to monitor the situation, noting that there is no indication that the river will exceed the major flood level at Mungindi.

CONDAMINE - BALONNE RIVER SYSTEM
Major flooding may occur along the Balonne River to Surat and elevated river levels are already downstream of Surat to Beardmore Dam. Sunwater is releasing excess water into the Balonne River from Beardmore Dam. LDMG will continue to monitor the situation, noting there is no indication that the Balonne River at St George will exceed a major flood level.

MARANOA RIVER
Elevated river level rises are being observed along the Maranoa River that will also contribute to the inflows at Beardmore Dam.

MOONIE RIVER
Minor flooding is occurring along the Moonie River to Flinton. LDMG is monitoring a 2nd peak further upstream at Southwood and Old Tartha to determine if there will be any impact at the Claude Bowhay Bridge on the Moonie Highway later this week. The Moonie River at Nindigully is currently at 2.40 metres and rising, with minor flooding.
