LOCAL DISASTER MANAGEMENT GROUP UPDATE

This is an update from the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) for the Balonne Shire.  Travellers and residents are asked to prepare now, stay informed and monitor conditions and where possible avoid travelling into areas that will be most affected.

THALLON

The Moonie River at Thallon Bridge is currently and rising, above the moderate flood level (4.50 metres). The Moonie River at Thallon Bridge may peak near the major flood level (5.00 metres) early Wednesday.

Noondoo Thallon Road has closed and Noondoo Mungindi Road also expected to be impacted.

Council is standing by with temporary levee at Thallon if required. 

Waste services will be disrupted 29 November due to road closures. If people can dispose of their own waste at the landfill, please do so. If not, please contact your town supervisor. 

BOLLON

Wallam Creek is currently steady at the causeway into Bollon.  Council is monitoring conditions from Cardiff and Mungallala.  The causeway is expected to be inundated and the Balonne Highway blocked into tomorrow.

Bollon Dirranbandi Road remains closed and the Balonne Highway west to Cunnamulla. 

Waste services will be disrupted 29 November due to road closures. If people can dispose of their own waste at the landfill, please do so. If not, please contact your town supervisor.

OTHER ROAD UPDATES

• Carnarvon Highway open with caution between St George and Nindigully and closed to all traffic Nindigully to Thallon and is likely to close onto Mungindi

• Barwon Highway open with caution Nindigully to Goondiwindi

• Castlereagh Highway (Dirranbandi - St George) open

• Castlereagh Highway between Hebel and Dirranbandi open

• Carnarvon Highway to Roma is open

• Moonie Highway – Open

• Balonne Highway – Closed west Bollon to Cunnamulla
