Pub Choir – Expression of Interest (EOI)

Council is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the Event Management of a Pub Choir-Community Connectiveness Event to be held in our Shire on 29 October 2023.

Balonne Shire Council has received a Flexible Funding Grant from Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) for the delivery of a Pub Choir – Community Connectiveness event.

With a show that is equal parts music and comedy, Pub Choir is a euphoric inter-active show sensation that transforms a crowd of strangers into a legendary choir – and it’s coming to the Balonne Shire. Founded in Brisbane in 2017 by music teacher and event director Astrid Jorgensen and close friend Meg Bartholomew, Pub Choir has grown from a homegrown singalong to a nation-wide phenomenon that has now spread globally with performances in New Zealand, the Unites States and England.

This is a fantastic opportunity to not only uplift our community members who have struggled both personally and financially through recent floods but simultaneously showcase our Shire and attractions and draw more visitors to the region.

Council is seeking a local community group or business to take on the role of Event Organiser to plan, organise, host and execute the Pub Choir – Community Connectiveness event to be enjoyed by residents and tourists alike and which will provide economic opportunities to local businesses.

The purpose of this community event is to involve as many people, community groups and local businesses as possible, for mutual benefit. This should be demonstrated by the Event Organiser in the response to the EOI. While the Balonne Shire Council and Pub Choir will assist with the marketing and promotion of the event, the Event Organiser will be responsible for all activities associated with the event management including but not limited to event set-up/pack down, stalls and vendors, ticket sales, security and risk management, entertainment, MC, information distribution and run-sheet.

Expressions of interest should include answers to the following:

1. What relevant experiences and qualifications does your business/organisation have in Event Management?

2. What is the proposed location for the event and why it would be the most appropriate setting for Pub Choir?

3. What accommodation is available at the location and what provisions will be made to transport patrons to/from other towns in the Shire?

4. What is the proposed price per person for the event and how will ticketing be handled?

5. How will security and risk be managed for the event?

6. What partnerships will be made with local businesses, groups and associations for the event and how will this benefit them/the Shire?

7. How will the Mental Health messaging be incorporated into the event?

Expressions of interest must be emailed to council@balonne.qld.gov.au by 5pm on Friday 23 June 2023. The Event Organiser will be offered to the business/group whose expression of interest best demonstrates their capacity to deliver the project successfully with greatest return on investment.

Please contact Council’s Manager Tourism, Kim Wildman, on 07 4620 8830 or 0427 755 056 if you have any questions.
