BALONNE SHIRE COUNCIL SUPPORTS THE NORTHERN BASIN FORUM HOSTED BY MURRAY DARLING ASSOCIATION
The Balonne Shire Council is proud to support the upcoming Northern Basin Forum, to be hosted by the Murray Darling Association in Tamworth on 9th May 2023.
This event will bring together water users, irrigation experts, industry leaders, and heads of government to discuss water security across the Northern Basin, in the context of water recovery programs, the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, ongoing disaster recovery efforts, and preparation for future drought events.
Balonne Shire Mayor Samantha O’Toole said that the Forum will provide a unique opportunity for communities across the Northern Murray-Darling Basin to unite at a national level and speak with one voice on the needs for our communities.
“The Forum will help to guide advocacy, representation, engagement priorities and initiatives through the Murray Darling Basin,” said Mayor O’Toole.
“I encourage all interested parties to consider attending the Northern Basin Forum, to join the conversation, inform future policy, and engage with the scientists, educators, and leaders of our time.”
The event will feature Basin Experts, Water Users, Irrigation, and Industry heads, as well as Murray-Darling Basin Authority CEO Andrew McConville and Inspector-General of Water Compliance the Hon Troy Grant.
To support the Forum, the Murray Darling Association is hosting a number of social events, including a Networking Dinner, Exhibition opportunities, and a Study Tour of key water resource infrastructure in the Region.
The Northern Basin Forum is a ticketed event, with registrations handled through the Murray Darling Association's webpage.
The Murray Darling Association is a membership-based peak representative organisation representing over 164 local government areas and communities across the Murray-Darling Basin.
