Friday 9 September 2022 - 2.30pm

This is a bulletin from the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) for the Balonne Shire. Our Local Disaster Management Group and Council are currently monitoring road conditions due to overnight rainfall event. In the 24 hours to 9am Friday, widespread rainfall was recorded across the catchment with localised heavier falls up to 70 mm. No significant rainfall is forecast over the next few days.

ROAD CLOSURES

As a result of the rainfall event:

    − Minnum, Cubbie and Openbah Roads are closed

    − Dilqui Road is closed

    − Kooroon and Teelbar Roads are closed

    − Dirranbandi

    – Hebel Road (Castlereagh Highway) there is water over the road and remains open with caution

    − Moonie Highway is closed northeast of Moonie

    − Carnarvon Highway Surat to Roma – there are sections with water over the road and was open with caution at 2.00pm today

Council will continue to provide updates utilising the Emergency Dashboard.

RIVER UPDATES

Moonie River

There are no current warnings for the Moonie River however we are aware that upstream and at Flinton, the Moonie River is rising due to up to 70ml around Westmar.

Bokhara River - Hebel

There is minor flooding on the Bokhara River at Hebel.

Balonne River

Moderate flooding is currently occurring at Surat. Downstream of Surat the Balonne River at Warroo is expected to remain below minor flood levels (9.00m) into Saturday. Maranoa River: River level rises were recorded as a result of recent rainfall, however flooding is not expected.
