Dragon Country Sandgreen Cup opportunity to try out St George course

Teeing off in St George at the Dragon Country Sandgreen Cup at the end of September is a good way to check out the course ahead of Australia’s richest amateur golf series.

The St George Golf Club has secured pole position in the 2023 Outback Queensland Masters, an epic tour through the Queensland outback, culminating in a million-dollar hole-in-one challenge.

The Sandgreen Cup runs over three days from Friday 30 September to Sunday 2 October, and offers players a mix of events and two $10,000 hole-in-one challenges.

Mayor Samantha O’Toole said that the weekend event would be a good trial run for the annual Masters’ series in 2023.

“Anyone thinking of playing the entire Outback Queensland Masters series next year should get themselves out to St George to try out the sandgreen course.

“The 2023 series kicks off at St George and follows a trail through Cunnamulla, Quilpie, Richmond, Karumba and ending in Mount Isa.  If you’re looking for the ultimate golfing adventure, this has to be it.”

The Dragon Country Sandgreen Cup runs from 30 September to 2 October at St George Gold Course.  To nominate, email dragoncountrycup@gmail.com before 26 September 2022.

The 2023 Outback Queensland Masters starts in St George 17 June and ends in Mount Isa 23 July.
