The Moonie Highway east of St George has been reduced to one lane by an overnight truck fire.

A truck carrying fertiliser caught fire on the Moonie Highway about 30km east of St George around 11.30pm.

Emergency services attended the fire and clean-up has commenced.

The highway has been re-opened to traffic, using one lane of the two-lane highway, and Police are directing traffic.

It is not yet known when the Moonie Highway will be fully re-opened once the clean-up is completed and the state of the roadway assessed.
