ANZAC Day Services and Information

Balonne Shire ANZAC Day 2020 in conjunction with the St George RSL Sub-Branch and Care Balonne on Saturday 25 April 2020.

Care Balonne in partnership with the Shire Post Offices have delivered an Australian flag and the Ode to all households in the Shire. Please see below the schedule for each town. We encourage all residents to commemorate our ANZACs on this day by getting involved in one way or another.

St George

  • The Last post, the Ode and the national Anthem will be played at 6am via Care Balonne Facebook (live streaming), iTunes, Spotify or via the RSL QLD link. This is to be done in private residences.
  • A time slot for each group that normally lays a Wreath will be done from 6am to 11am. One representative from each group at a time. Arrival and leave by vehicle before next wreath are laid. No congregation of people
  • Wreath laying can be done at the memorial wall as follows:

6.04am - St George RSL Sub-Branch

7.00am - Balonne Shire Council

7.30am - Queensland Police Service

8.00am - Queensland Ambulance Service

8.30am - Army Cadets

9.00am - St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School

9.30am - St George State School

10.00am - St George State High School

10.30am - Queensland Fire and Emergency Service

  • From 11.04am - anyone from the community or a representative from any other community groups wishing to pay their respects may lay a wreath or poppy. Maximum 2 people. Arrival in vehicle and leave by vehicle from the monument prior to next poppy being laid. No congregation of people.
  • We encourage residents to head into their gardens to commemorate the ANZACs from 11am
  1. 11am – The church bells will ring
  2. 11.01-11.02am – Shire-wide one-minute silence
  3. 11.03am – Flyover

Bollon

  • At 6am a Virtual Dawn service will be held via the Bollon Post office Facebook page. This will include The Ode, National Anthem and The Last Post
  • A time slot for each group that normally lays a Wreath will be done from 6am to 9.30am. One representative from each group at a time. Arrival and leave by vehicle before next wreath are laid. No congregation of people
  • Wreath laying can be done at Walter Austin Park as follows:

6.04am - RSL Sub-Branch

7.00am - Balonne Shire Council

7.30am - Police

8.00am - Ambulance

8.30am - Fire Service

9.00am - Clinic

  • From 9.30am - anyone from the community or a representative from any other community groups wishing to pay their respects may lay a wreath or poppy. Maximum 2 people. Arrival in vehicle and leave by vehicle from the monument prior to next poppy being laid. No congregation of people.
  • We encourage residents to head into their gardens to commemorate the ANZACs by participating in a Shire-wide one-minute silence at 11.01am.

Dirranbandi

  • A time slot for each group that normally lays a Wreath will be done from 6am to 10.30am. One representative from each group at a time. Arrival and leave by vehicle before next wreath are laid. No congregation of people
  • Wreath laying can be done at the RSL Branch as follows:

7.30am - Police

8.00am - Ambulance

8.30am - Fire Service

9.00am - Dirranbandi P-10 State School

9.30am - Dirranbandi Kindy

10.00am - Dirranbandi Hospital

  • From 10.30am. anyone from the community or a representative from any other community groups wishing to pay their respects may lay a wreath or poppy. Maximum 2 people. Arrival in vehicle and leave by vehicle from the monument prior to next poppy being laid. No congregation of people
  • We encourage residents to head into their gardens to commemorate the ANZACs by participating in a Shire-wide one-minute silence at 11.01am

Hebel

  • Wreaths can be laid at the Hebel Church on the landing as follows:

8.00am - Balonne Shire Council

8.30am - Hebel Court Sports Association

9.00am - Hebel State School

  • From 9.30am. anyone from the community or a representative from any other community groups wishing to pay their respects may lay a wreath or poppy. Maximum 2 people. Arrival in vehicle and leave by vehicle from the monument prior to next poppy being laid. No congregation of people.
  • We encourage residents to head into their gardens to commemorate the ANZACs by participating in a Shire-wide one-minute silence at 11.01am.

Thallon
