Councillors To Meet With Communities Next Month.
Balonne Shire Councillors and the Senior Leadership Group are planning a series of meet and greet opportunities for local community members in August.
Mayor Samantha O’Toole said with restrictions easing following the Coronavirus pandemic now was a viable time for the gatherings to be arranged.
“Several new faces joined Council at the March elections and these meetings will be the first opportunity since the election that many in our communities will have had to touch base with elected members,” she said.
“While Councillors have not been as visible since the election because of the pandemic we have still been very active with the new-look portfolio system announced in May and the new budget adopted in June.
To date Councillors have participated in more than 30 local, district and State COVID-19 meetings, five budget workshops, three Council meetings and more than 40 hours of disaster management and induction training.
I hope as many community members as possible will be able to pop in, meet their Council as well as several of our senior staff and discuss matters of concern.”
Cr O’Toole said while restrictions were easing, she encouraged anyone who was feeling unwell to not attend.
“We will be taking precautions and exercising social distancing but I would encourage all attending to be mindful of the current expectations so everyone can remain safe.”
Cr O’Toole said due to continuing COVID-19 venue restriction requirements.

BOLLON: Bollon Hall 9.00 am – 10.30 am
HEBEL: Hebel Rodeo Grounds 1.00 pm – 2.30 pm
DIRRANBANDI: Dirranbandi Pub 4.00 pm – 5.30 pm
6 AUGUST
ST GEORGE: St George Cultural Centre 4.00 pm – 5.30 pm
12 AUGUST
THALLON/NINDIGULLY: Nindigully Pub 12.00 pm – 1.30 pm
MUNGINDI: Two Mile Hotel 3 pm – 4.30 pm
