Residents who own a pool are required to register it with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC).
Queensland laws define a swimming pool as any structure that:
This applies to wading pools (including blow-up pools) and spas.
The pool laws don't apply to fishponds or structures that have been designed, manufactured, or adapted to be solely or principally used for ornamental purposes.
Council's licensed pool safety inspectors carry out pool safety inspections and issue pool safety certificates.
Please note: Council requires payment prior to the pool fence inspection being carried out.
