Reporting to the Director Infrastructure Services, the Manager Road Construction and Maintenance will lead Council's crucial roads function and provide direction across road construction, maintenance, renewal, drainage infrastructure, external road contracts and associated infrastructure programs. The position has responsibility for a team that includes engineering, RMPC, local roads, construction and administration capability, and will work closely with experienced supervisors and crews to deliver practical, high-quality outcomes across a broad regional network.

Road Construction Supervisor

Lead road, street and drainage works that keep communities connected

Coordinate crews, contractors, plant and budgets across works programs

Reporting to the Manager Road Construction and Maintenance, the Construction Supervisor will provide day-to-day supervision of Council's road and street works, including drainage, delivered by Council's day labour workforce and subcontractors. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who understands civil construction environments and enjoys coordinating people, plant, equipment and contractors to achieve quality outcomes.

Apprentice Mechanic

Position Overview:

The purpose of this Heavy Road Transport Mechanical Technology Apprenticeship with Council is to provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge through completing on the job working experience and training with an employer whilst completing a nationally recognised course of training through a registered training organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

If you love working with your hands and fixing things, you might have what it takes to become a Heavy Road Transport Mechanic. Heavy Vehicle Motor Mechanics specialise in repairing and maintaining heavy vehicles, which includes trucks, buses, agricultural or earthmoving machinery.

Day-to-day tasks may include:
- testing and diagnosing faults with heavy machinery and their components
- carrying out repairs, tune-ups, maintenance and routine servicing on heavy vehicles and machinery
- dismantling, removing and overhauling engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components and parts
- using welding, machining or hand-fitting to repair parts
- reassembling engines and parts after being repaired.
