LOCAL DISASTER MANAGEMENT GROUP - Meeting Update 5 April 2025
Published on 05 April 2025
The Balonne Local Disaster Management Group is at Stand Up and met at 4.00pm this afternoon and will meet again at the same time Monday 7 April 2025. Balonne Shire Council is continuing to monitor road conditions and river levels.
BOLLON
Wallam Creek, as expected, has reached the major level of 1m at Bollon today, Saturday 5 April 2025. The trigger for installing the temporary flood gates and temporary levee is 1.5m – 1.7m. There is still no concern for any inundation of the township. Waste collection services will continue on Wednesday, provided the road is open.
MUNGINDI
The Barwon River was at 6.24m this afternoon and will increase to moderate early next week. Balonne Shire Council is aware that Mungindi is isolated from both St George and Moree. Council is continuing to monitor the road closure on the Carnarvon Highway. Waste collection services are likely to be disrupted at Mungindi and will resume when the roads re-open. Motorists are reminded that road closed signage must not be removed or ignored, heavy penalties apply and may put you or other motorists in danger.
Residents are advised to cover up and use insect repellent to avoid mosquitoes.
Any isolated properties requesting resupply can phone the Queensland State Emergency Service on 132 500.
