LOCAL DISASTER MANAGEMENT GROUP UPDATE – 4 April 2025
The Balonne Local Disaster Management Group is at Stand Up and met at 4.00pm this afternoon and will meet again at the same time Saturday 5 April. Balonne Shire Council is continuing to monitor road conditions and river levels.
BOLLON
Wallam Creek is expected to reach the major level of 1m at Bollon by mid-afternoon Saturday 5 April 2025. The trigger for installing the temporary flood gates and temporary levee is 1.5m – 1.7m. Therefore, we have no concern for any inundation of the township. Waste collection services will continue on Wednesday provided the road is open.
MUNGINDI
The Barwon River is expected to reach minor flood levels over the weekend, however this may increase to moderate early next week. Balonne Shire Council is aware that Mungindi is isolated from both St George and Moree. Council is continuing to monitor the road closure on the Carnarvon Highway. Waste collection services are likely to be disrupted at Mungindi and will resume when the roads re-open.
Please refer to the Emergency Dashboard for updates, as conditions can change when the roads can be re-opened.
Residents are advised to cover up and use insect repellent to avoid mosquitoes.
