The Balonne Local Disaster Management Group remains at stand up and will meet again at 4.00pm Monday 7 April 2025. Balonne Shire Council is continuing to monitor road conditions and river levels.

BOLLON

Wallam Creek is falling and was at 0.75m at 9.50am Sunday 6 April 2025. Council will be in contact with the Department of Transport & Main Roads as soon as the deck is clear with a view to reopening the Balonne Highway as soon as possible. Waste collection services will continue on Wednesday (provided the road is open).

MUNGINDI

The Barwon River was at 6.32m at 12.15pm Sunday 6 April 2025 and will increase to moderate early next week. Balonne Shire Council is aware that Mungindi is still isolated from both St George and Moree. The local supermarket has been restocked by NSW SES.

Council is continuing to monitor the road closure on the Carnarvon Highway and will be in contact with the Department of Transport & Main Roads as soon as the deck is clear. Waste collection services are likely to be disrupted at Mungindi and will resume when the roads re-open.

Residents are advised to cover up and use insect repellent to avoid mosquitoes. Planning is underway for a vector control program.

Should you or your neighbours on isolated properties be experiencing any need for resupply please phone Council on 07 4620 8888 for further information from Monday 7 April - 8.45am.
