COUNCIL WELCOMES FUNDING FOR FUTURE DEVELOPMENT IN DIRRANBANDI

Council welcomes $1.85 million in funding from the Queensland Government through its Residential Activation Fund for new trunk infrastructure in Dirranbandi, which will unlock future development in the township.

This funding will allow for an upgrade to the stormwater pump station, new water mains in Crothers Street, new sewerage mains in Waterson/Crothers Streets, upgrades to water mains on Charles/Ida Streets and 950 metres of new footpath to be installed along Charles and Ida Streets.

Mayor Samantha O’Toole said this funding will unlock infrastructure barriers that can all too often hold back development in regional communities.

“Upgrading the stormwater pumping station, extending sewer and water infrastructure and delivering new footpaths might not always be the most visible part of building a new home, but it is absolutely critical to getting new housing off the ground," said Mayor O'Toole.

“As a smaller regional Council, finding the funds for trunk infrastructure upgrades like this can be a significant financial challenge.

“This funding will pave the way for future development in Dirranbandi by ensuring we can build the infrastructure that allows for more housing in the township and Shire.

“We thank the Queensland Government for this funding, which will ensure Dirranbandi is well placed to grow into the future. “This funding will also allow us to better protect the Dirranbandi community during periods of high rainfall with an upgrade to the stormwater pump station.”

DETAILS OF UPGRADE WORKS FROM THIS QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT FUNDING:

• Stormwater Pump Station Upgrade:

- Construction of a 2,250mm internal diameter × 5,540mm deep, mould-formed, heavy-duty reinforced concrete pumping chamber (wet well).

- Installation of a 250mm thick mould-formed reinforced concrete cover slab, complete with grated access cover.

- Provision and installation of a heavy-duty galvanised elevated access platform, including handrails and access ladder, to support safe access to the switchboard and operational equipment.

- Supply and installation of one (1) submersible stormwater pump (55 kW), mounted on stainless steel guide rails within the wet well.

- Pump discharge pipework constructed in 250mm HDPE, plumbed internally within the wet well. - Supply and installation of a free-standing outdoor switchboard, mounted on a concrete plinth.

• New Water Mains in Crothers Street: Construction of approximately 280 metres of new potable watermain.

• New Sewerage Mains in Waterson/Crothers Streets: Construction of approximately 300 metres of new sewer mains.

• Upgraded Water Mains on the corner of Charles & Ida Streets: Upgrade of approximately 1,350 metres of existing potable water mains between the corner of Charles Street and Ida Street and the Cemetery, involving replacement of undersized infrastructure with a 150mm diameter water mains.

• New Footpath Installation: Installation of approximately 950 meters of concrete footpaths along Charles & Ida Streets.
