Community Christmas Carnival set to light up the heart of St George

Back

The centre of St George is set to come alive with Christmas Spirit on 16 December with the Community Christmas Carnival in the forecourt of ‘The Hub, on Victoria Street from 4:30pm – 7:30pm.

From markets and food stalls, to kids activities, live entertainment and thousands of dollars in prizes and giveaways, this year’s Christmas Carnival is set to be a fun night for all the family.

Balonne Shire Mayor, Samantha O’Toole, said it is so good to see the community getting behind this year’s Community Christmas Carnival.

“It’s great to see so many of our local businesses contributing thousands of dollars in cash and prizes towards the Mega-Draw, so I’d urge anyone wanting to enter the draw on the night to get behind our local businesses to get your receipts for entry into the drawer,” Mayor O’Toole said.

“We are all really looking forward to getting together again as a community at an event that brings everyone so much joy.

“I’m also really looking forward to taking a drive around after the event to see all of the winning entries for the Christmas Lights competition, which will be drawn on the night.

“I would like to particularly thank the tireless efforts of the local community groups and volunteers that are bringing this event together.”

With the flood levels starting to drop on our roadways, we are delighted to let everyone know that Santa himself will be making an entrance for photos from 5:00pm.

If you’re keen to support this year’s Christmas Carnival and want to know how to get involved or are interested in setting up a stall at the event please contact Samantha Cott (Chamber of Commerce) on 0437 062 623 or Ron Petterson (Balonne Shire Council) on 0428 005 776.
