This is a weather alert from the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) for the Balonne Shire. Our Local Disaster Management Group is currently monitoring rain event and is at Lean Forward.

The Bureau of Meteorology advised at 3.30pm this afternoon that severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Roma, Emerald, St George, Blackwater, Springsure and Carnarvon National Park.

Old Cashmere (northwest of St. George) recorded 105mm in the 6 hours to 2:30pm

St George recorded 94.8mm in the 6 hours to 2:30pm.

The rainfall is likely to continue overnight.

All road users are reminded to check road conditions before travelling and that road conditions can change without notice.

ST GEORGE

The Balonne River at St George is likely to increase with Sunwater advising that flow rates out of Beardmore Dam and Jack Taylor Weir are currently 8000ML.
Council and Work Camp has been responding to calls for assistance in habitable dwellings and businesses in St George and Dirranbandi. Sand bags are available by contacting the Balonne Shire on (07) 4620 8888.
