WATCH AND ACT NO.5A

This is a flood warning from the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) for the Balonne Shire. Our Local Disaster Management Group is currently monitoring flooding on the Balonne River and Barwon River.

DIRRANBANDI & HEBEL

The Castlereagh Highway into the township of Hebel is now CLOSED as the road surface has deteriorated.
Dirranbandi may experience road closures on the Castlereagh Highway at Police Lagoons (near the township of Dirranbandi) over the Easter weekend.

BOLLON

There are no current warnings for Bollon. Bollon Dirranbandi Road is CLOSED. This may continue to affect return to school after the Easter break.

TRAVEL ALERTS

All travellers should reconsider non-essential travel. All road users are reminded to check road conditions before travelling and that it is an offence to remove or go around road closed signage. Road conditions can change without notice.
• The Moonie Highway is now open with caution with some sections inundated with water over the road.
• The Carnarvon Highway at Surat bridge is open.
• The Barwon Highway to Goondiwindi is currently open.
• The Carnarvon Highway north of Thallon is subject to flooding – proceed with caution

ST GEORGE

The Balonne River at St George is likely to increase to reach 8m on Saturday 16/4. Flow rates out of Beardmore Dam and Jack Taylor Weir are currently 65000ML. There is not expected to be any impact on habitable dwellings and the Andrew Nixon Bridge on the Jack Taylor Weir is not expected to close.

NINDIGULLY & THALLON

There are no current flood warnings for the Moonie River.

MUNGINDI

The Barwon River is not expected to exceed moderate flood levels (6.7m). Balonne Shire Council is continuing to monitor with Moree Plains Regional Council, QLD SES and NSW SES. At 7am Thurs 14/4 Barwon River was 6.39m.
