No known COVID-19 cases in Dirranbandi

Back

The Balonne Shire Council is aware of rumours circulating in Dirranbandi of a positive Covid case.

 This is simply a rumour.

Balonne Shire Council and the Local Disaster Management Group have had no reports of any Covid case in Dirranbandi or anywhere else in the Shire.

One case has been reported in the adjacent Walgett Shire in New South Wales.

Due to the strong community connection to northern New South Wales, we understand a number of people from Balonne have travelled to Walgett Shire (which includes Lightning Ridge) and returned in the past week.

Anyone who has travelled – on or since Thursday, July 5 – to any of the local government areas in New South Wales currently subject to lockdown should take a COVID test.

Testing is available at Dirranbandi and Mungindi Hospitals.

Anyone wishing to be tested should drive to the hospital and telephone the switchboard from their vehicle.

A hospital staff member will come out and administer the test.

The telephone number for Dirranbandi Hospital is (07) 4625 8222.

The telephone number for Mungindi Hospital is (02) 6705 6100.

Unless essential workers, residents of the Balonne Shire should not travel to adjacent areas of New South Wales while the current lockdowns are in force.
