The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted severe thunderstorms with locally damaging winds, large hail and heavy rainfall will be possible across the central and southern interior of the state today.
It also says:
• Heavy showers will occur about the central Queensland coast today, particularly during this morning.
• Severe heatwave conditions across far north Queensland will contract towards northern parts of the Cape over the next few days.
• Into Monday and Tuesday, the severe thunderstorm risk will shift further into western Queensland with locally damaging winds the main hazard with any of this activity.
• Some shower activity may occur around Ipswich and Logan during today.
