Local children will soon have the opportunity to become rockets scientists for a day thanks to a school holiday program coming to the Balonne Shire.

The youngsters will be able to explore the wonders of rockets, flight and space technology as well as making and launching their own water rockets made from soft drink bottles.

Supported by the Balonne Shire Council, Advance Queensland and the Queensland Government, the program will be held at:

  • Rowden Park, St George from 5.30pm to 7pm. on Sunday 27th September and 1pm to 2pm Tuesday 29th September.
  • Bollon State School Oval 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday 28th September.
  • Dirranbandi State School Oval 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday 28th September.
  • Thallon Park 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday 29th September.

The first St George session will be held in the evening allowing children to build and launch luminescent rockets which will glow as they fly into the night sky.

More information about the sessions can be found at itsrocketscience.com.au

Limited spaces are available and children must register for all events by contacting Council’s Community Development Officer Mariella Perez on 4620 8888 or Mariella.Perez@balonne.qld.gov.au
