Council has adopted a revised rating strategy and its budget for the 2021-22 financial year.
It has revised the rating strategy following new land valuations for Queensland's Valuer General; these updated valuations have increased significantly for some properties, while others have gone down in value.
Whle valuations have gone up by as much as 200% on some properties in the Balonne Shire, Council will not increase rates to that degree.
Instead, rates have gone up by a maximum of 2.05%. This will be the first rate rise for Balonne Shire residents in two years, as Council did not increase rates in the last finacial year.
More detailed information about rates - tailored to both residential and rural ratepayers - is available in the table above.
