The Tourism Events Grant Funding Program aims to support event organisers to develop, promote and execute events that will make a positive and ongoing contribution to the Shire.

Tourism Events are an important and growing part of our local economy and add to the vibrancy of our region. Council's Tourism Events Grant Funding Program has been set up to provide grant funding for events that attract (or have the potential to attract) a significant number of visitors to our region.

Priority will be given to events that increase visitation to the Shire, generate positive media coverage and stimulate the local economy.

How to apply

Applications are accepted twice a year - February and July - across three categories.

Funding categories

Category Criteria Amount
Major Event
  • Generates in excess of $350,000 economic impact; OR
  • Attracts in excess of 2000 unique attendees with substantial visitor numbers from outside the Shire.
  • High state and national media profile

Up to $6000

(including in-kind support)

Destination Event
  • Generates in excess of $200,000 economic impact; OR
  • Attracts between 1000-2000 unique attendees with substantial visitor numbers from outside the Shire.
  • High media profile outside of the Shire.

Up to $3000

(including in-kind support)

Regional Event
  • Generates, or has the potential to generate, in excess of $100,000 economic impact; OR
  • Event attracts up to 1000 unique attendees, with significant visitor numbers from outside the Shire.

Up to $2000 

(including in-kind support)

Additionally, one-off funding will be made available to help the development of a new Tourism Event.

Category Criteria amount
New Event Development Fund
  • Application must be from a reputable and experienced event organiser/organisation
  • Evidence of strong project planning must accompany the application
  • The event must have a strong tourism focus, funding not sought for community event grants

Up to $2000

Assessment

The assessment process is a competitive one. Applications will be assessed on merit, against the selection criteria outlined in the funding policy.
