The newly adopted five-year Balonne Shire Biosecurity Plan 2019-2024, is now available for perusal.
Under the Biosecurity Act everyone must take reasonable steps to prevent and minimise biosecurity risks of invasive pest plants and animals.
The Plan’s preparation was supported by several natural resource management agencies, landholders and other interested stakeholders. The Plan is the culmination of an extensive consultation program commencing in late 2018 and throughout 2019.
The Plan provides for a coordinated approach to the management of pest plants and animals within the Shire setting out achievable objectives and strategies for Council, landholders and other stakeholders to manage pests, as well as prioritising those pest plants and animals currently present or that have a high potential to occur within the region.
