Mungindi will be hosting their Carp Busters Fishing Competition on the 14th – 15th November 2009

The local TRY-ATHON is on again, it will be held on the 15th November, at the Amphitheatre, St George. Senior competitors start at 8.00am with a 500m swim, 20km Bike ride and 5km run. The juniors will start at 10.00am with a 100m swim, run and Bike ride. Brunch and drinks are available at the Amphitheatre. All proceeds raised go the St George High School. The Nindigully Pig Races and Country Music Spectacular will be held over the weekend of the 28th and 29th of November 2009 at the Nindigully Pub. All proceeds from the pig racing go the Royal Flying Doctors Service, with over $3,500.00 raised in previous years. A minimum of 5 country entertainers will be present to play into the wee hours. A fireworks spectacular will be held in the evening. Great for a family weekend with camping available on the Moonie River and free hot showers and toilets at the Pub. The Nindigully Pub is a fully licensed and catered venue. Nindigully New Year’s Eve Fireworks Festival will once again be held at the Nindigully Pub. The evening will feature one of the largest fireworks shows in Queensland, with 2 huge shows at 8.00pm then at Midnight. Mungindi is hosting their Annual Mungindi Raft Races on the 12th April, 2009 at the Barwon River Crossing. The day will commence at 10.00 am and conclude at 5.00 pm, Kids Races are $15.00 per entry and the Main Race entry fees are $100.00 per raft, all proceeds go to R.F.D.S and it is expected that there will be a crowd of over 500 people including entrants, supporters and their families. After the event concludes there will be live entertainment at the Two Mile Hotel commencing around 7.00 pm. The Annual Flinton Races will be held on the 11th April, 2009 at the Flinton Race Course. The Boolba QCWA Wool and Craft Show will be held on Saturday the 16th May 2009, at Boolba, 50kms west of St George on the Balonne Highway. The Wool and Craft Show is a yearly event which brings people from all over the district for a fun filled, relaxing day in the country. The day will commence at 10.30am and will continue until late. Care Balonne has been successful in gaining funding for members of the Balonne Shire to become trained facilitators in "How to drug proof your kids". The workshop will be run in Brisbane on the 08th & 09th September 2009, with funding covering the most costs associated with attending. There are certain criteria that each participant must meet in order to attend including delivery of the course within their town.
