After more than 30 years of operation, John & Elaine Beardmore sadly closed Rosehill Aviaries gates. The closure will be the end of an era, as the past 32 years of John & Elaine's life has revolved around people & birds. They say there has never been a dull moment, which you would expect with over 2,000 average visitors each year coming from all corners of the globe.
John & Elaine built up their collection with all but six recognized species of Australian parrots & lorikeets and an impressive assortment of Australian Waterfowl and pigeons, plus emus, kangaroos, possums, scrub turkeys and bowerbirds. While it was with sadness John & Elaine closed the aviary, it will mean precious time for travel and finishing John's life story which should be an interesting read indeed.
