DIRRANBANDI - THALLON
RAIL LINE
Public meetings are to be held to discuss the possible closure of the Thallon to Dirranbandi Rail Line and an amended proposal for compensation that is under negotiation with the State Government. This proposal varies from the one previously declined by the Balonne Shire Council and given the States intention to sell Queensland Rail and the recent closures of other freight services Council has decided it is worthy of consideration.
Whilst this issue is of particular significance to residents of the Dirranbandi Region there is potentially substantial financial implication for the whole of the Balonne Shire.
Meetings will commence at 7.00pm sharp on
Monday 17th August 2009 at the Dirranbandi Civic Centre
and
Tuesday 18th August 2009 at the St George Cultural Centre
This is an all of Shire issue and you are strongly encouraged to attend.
