The Balonne Shire is inviting residents to make submissions on the range of alternative methods to decrease the risk to the students of St Patrick’s School, St George when they need to cross Balonne Street. St Patrick’s School is proposing a substantial building program on the school oval on the eastern side of Balonne Street, (bordered by Balonne, Alfred and Church Streets). This dramatically increases the number of students crossing Balonne Street.
The proposals for consideration are listed below. Please remember these diagrams only convey concepts and none of them are finalised designs.
Option 1
A school crossing in Balonne Street that decrease the street width at a point and slows cars.
Option 2
Making that portion of Balonne Street One way with entry via Victoria Street and exit via Alfred Street
Option 3
Blocking Balonne Street to vehicular traffic at the Alfred Street end.
A Public Meeting to further discuss these proposals will be held

If you wish to have your say, your written submission will need to be received by Council by Friday 26 June 2009.Your submission should support or argue against any of the above options. It would be more powerful if you clearly state the reasoning behind your position.
