After extensive consultation Council has asked for assistance from Queensland’s Department of Transport to improve road safety around the St Patricks Primary School, St George.
At the recommendation of the Department a Safety School Travel Committee has been established and some preliminary safety measures will be implemented in Balonne Street during the upcoming September school holidays. These changes will include extending the current drop off zone and converting angle parking in the street to parallel parking. This is an interim response pending the outcomes from the Safety School Travel Committee. It is hope that the measures developed by the Committee can be implemented before the start of the 2010 school year.
