Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the vacancy of Independent Chairperson on the Balonne Shire Council Audit Committee.
The Audit Committee is a source of independent advice to the Council and the CEO regarding finance, governance, risk management and audit related matters. The Committee meets at least twice per annum.
The Independent Chairperson must not be a current or former Councillor or staff member of the Council. They must be of good character and free of any criminal convictions. They need not reside in the Balonne Shire Local Government Area. They must hold duly recognised professional qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Business or Risk Management and should be sufficiently experienced in business or organisational management so as to be able to lead the business and functions of the Committee.
This member (Chair) shall also promote effective communications between the Audit Committee and Council, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), other senior management and the external auditors. The Chair shall ensure the Audit Committee meetings are run smoothly and that the views of all members are heard, and that the agenda and meeting papers properly reflect proceedings. They must be able and willing to subscribe to Balonne Shire Council’s Code of Conduct.

Applicants must either hold a current ABN or be willing to apply for one.
Applicants should highlight their suitability for the role through the provision of a cover letter, resume, referees and any other supporting documents.
Please supply a rate for chairing the meeting plus travel expenses for consideration.
