Council to hold free dog microchipping clinic
Do you have a pooch? Is your pooch microchipped? If not, book in to the Balonne Shire Council’s free microchip clinic at the park on Klinge Lane behind Council on Tuesday 23 July.
Council is offering to microchip 60 dogs for free. It is a requirement under the State Animal Management (Cats & Dogs) Act that all dogs be microchipped and registered.
Eligible dogs must be:
- Fully vaccinated
- Or at least one year old if they haven’t been vaccinated before
- Or had a vaccination over 3 months of age
- A dog younger than 1 year old which hasn’t been vaccinated is NOT eligible
This free microchip clinic is available to all community residents. A microchip is a permanent implant that will remain in the animal its entire life. By simply scanning your pet, obtaining the microchip number and searching the number on a national database, all your details will be displayed and you can be quickly contacted to recover your pet. It is important to keep these details up to date.
If you would like to take advantage of this free service please contact Environmental Health Officer Di Francisco on 07 4620 8844 to book your appointment.
