Community members wanted for Australia Day Planning Committee

Balonne Shire’s Australia Day Award nominations are open and Council is looking for community members to join the planning committee.

Mayor Richard Marsh said Council was looking for people who were able to dedicate some time to organising the annual event.

“Australia Day is a great way to celebrate our residents and their achievements and we are fortunate to have so many worthy recipients living in our shire,” he said.

“I urge you to put your thinking caps on and nominate a person or group that you feel has made a significant contribution to their community and our region in 2017.

“There are nine award categories including citizen of the year, community service, sports achievement and cultural achievement.

“Most of the awards have a junior and senior section, so we cover all age groups.”

Award Guidelines and nomination forms are available from Council’s website, Council Chambers and Libraries.

Award nominations close at 4pm on Friday 17 November, 2017.
