Celebrate Australia Day in Thallon
A barbecue brekkie, awards, morning tea and a game of cricket are on the agenda for the Balonne Shire Australia Day celebrations at the Thallon Park on Saturday, 26 January.
Mayor Richard Marsh said he was looking forward to tasting the sweet delights being provided by the Queensland Country Women’s Association Thallon branch.
“Whenever we go to Thallon we are always treated to a great array of delicious goodies and I look forward to seeing what the ladies provide at morning tea,” he said.
“Not only will we enjoy sweet treats, but a cooked brekkie will be served up by the Thallon Fishing Club from 8am.
“The food is just a pleasant sideline however as the day’s spotlight will be focused on celebrating all things Australian and the presentation of our Australia Day Awards to some very deserving members of our community.
“These awards acknowledge the tireless dedication and hard work of people in the Balonne Shire and I look forward to finding out who receives an award.
“There also will be a cricket match between Bollon and Thallon taking place at the Thallon Recreational Grounds from 9.30am for those who want to stay and watch after the Australia Day event.”
